The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principle Office Assistant, performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) Test Support Division (TSD).
Duties
Based on detailed knowledge of the organization and its programs and operations, screens incoming mail/calls to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the Division Chief/Group Commander, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other organizations/offices, or handled personally.
Maintains multiple calendars, coordinates meeting arrangements and schedules meetings and/or conferences based on knowledge of Division Chief's/Group Commander's commitments, priorities, workload and current issues of importance and coordinates with supervisor as necessary.
Uses professional software to create, format, modify, edit and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other documents and communications IAW AF guidelines.
Ensures timely follow-up action on requests for information. Provides advisory, consulting and reviewing services for the Division/Group administrative functions.
Coordinates with subject matter experts for all mandated and assigned unit and/or administrative support programs. Ensures unit program compliance with regulations, laws, policies and directives for assigned programs.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-07 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents; Receiving telephone call and greeting visitors. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, or operations applied to administrative assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, locating and assembling information for various reports, maintaining files/records, and making and preparing travel arrangements.
Knowledge of office functions and commitments of supervisor and staff to prepare and review correspondence, to screen telephone calls and visitors, to maintain supervisor's calendar, and to perform other substantive or administrative work of the organization.
Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence, reports, and transcribed material.
Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
Knowledge of standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, printers and office automation systems and software to perform substantial range of office automation support.
Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
Knowledge of management and/or program analysis technical rules, guidelines, regulations and precedents with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
Knowledge of the organization and its functions and programs to answer inquiries of a general nature, refer items of interest to responsible staff, subject-matter filing, receptionist duties and other general clerical practices to support office operations.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and analytical functions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
