The primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), to accomplish intelligence functions in support of programs essential to AFRC daily operations, training, & readiness missions.


Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties. DUTY 1: Serves as the unit's expert intelligence analyst for the commander and staff on all intelligence matters, including intelligence processes, support requirements, technical aspects of weapons systems, terrorist operational methods as well as daily-integrated intelligence support in alert, crisis, and Force Protection situations. DUTY 2: Develops, monitors, and ensures execution of unit internal and external intelligence training programs tailored to the unit's mission. DUTY 3: Ensures the intelligence function maintains a capability to provide timely and accurate operational intelligence support and fully trained intelligence personnel during peacetime and contingency operations. DUTY 4: Manages the unit intelligence mobility program. Plans, organizes, establishes, and manages the deployment and conduct of intelligence operations during contingency operations. DUTY 5: Represents the unit regarding intelligence program policies, procedures and issues.

  • Incumbent may be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
  • Incumbent must meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to permit full participation in unit training assemblies.

*********THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN (ART) POSITION*********** This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. *** Salary ranges includes local market supplements *** In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge (as would be acquired through a pertinent baccalaureate educational program or equivalent in work experience) of the principles, concepts, and methodology of the intelligence career field such that it permits independent performance of recurring assignments that are somewhat complex; a practical knowledge of a wide range of analytical principles, concepts, and practices relevant to the intelligence career field either gained relevant graduate study and/or equivalent work experience. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. AND KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Extensive knowledge of intelligence procedures, methodology, techniques and strategies including but not limited to: force protection; classified materials handling; Aerospace Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (AIPB) and Predictive Battlespace Awareness (PBA) analysis; mobility/deployment preparations, requirements and materials such as Combat Mission folders; AFRC intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR)computer systems/software; command, control and communications protection; intelligence data collection, validation and production procedures; and project management techniques. 2. Broad knowledge of military structure, political affairs and history regarding assigned area when analyzing intelligence data and knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of real or potential security threats to or problems for program operations. 3. Ability to plan detailed and complex studies, anticipate and solve problems, and to collect, organize, and interrelate large amounts of diversely formatted data drawn from a wide variety of sources. 4. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals and groups within the office as well as outside the immediate work unit and ability to critically evaluate sources of information and establish validity of facts. 5. Knowledge of and ability to develop intelligence career field training programs and conduct training and testing. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, under both normal and high stress conditions associated with emergency situations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT. IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
