About the Position: This position is under the supervision of the US Army Garrison, Directorate of Emergency Services. Police/Provost Marshall Divsion.
Duties
Builds the course lessons using materials and information from various sources to construct the course lesson plans, visual aids,
Prepares and presents training courses in a variety of subjects
Changes/updates course material and layout based on changes in laws, legal precedence, and/or operational techniques and procedures.
Evaluates student achievement and diagnoses student learning difficulties for particular low and high ability students or groups, and improves instruction through the application of innovative or advanced instructional techniques.
Manage human capital in a manner that affords career development and prepares employees to fill critical vacancies.
Pursues, apprehends, and arrests persons fleeing from crime scenes.
Identifies and apprehends violators based on eyewitness accounts or personal observations.
Investigates traffic accidents; and takes statements and witnesses; directs traffic and controls the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Operates breath-alcohol instruments in accordance with state requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance..
- Subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with the Department of the Army guidelines.
- Be able to wear chemical protections masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
- Pass periodic medical examinations (physical, emotional, and mental stability).
- Pass periodic physical agility test requirements.
- Maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Be certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas, and radar guns.
- Become state certified, if required, for radar and breathalyzer operations.
- Position is covered by the 199 Lautenberg Amendment to the Control Act of 1968. Person convicted of a misdemeanor of felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- Incumbent must meet requirements for the Ary Civilian Police and Security Program.
- Must comply with the Army Civilian Police dress and appearance requirements.
- Must be training and proficient in specialized weapons and unarmed self-defense.
- Must be able to complete military, Federal, state, and local certifications for specialized training courses to instruct in the areas of law enforcement equipment, procedures, or techniques required for the position.

Specialized Experience for the GS-09:To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: presenting lessons and examples during courses on law enforcement techniques; demonstrating law enforcement operations and techniques to mentor lower level employee; assist with preparation of police training material and updating performance standards;assist range instructors in operation of ranges; and responding to criminal activity. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-08).
Specialized Experience for the GS-08: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: conducts civilian and military training in various law enforcement topics; assisting in the arrangement of training facilities for firing ranges; and patrolling installations by vehicle, or foot in the administration of law enforcement, physical security of designated ranges and crime prevention activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-07).
