About the Position: Serve as Teller within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Small Market and Stand-Alone Organization (SSO), Military Treatment Facility (MTF), West Point, NY.
Duties
Accept and receive full or partial payments in the form of US currency or other negotiable instruments, such as cash, check, credit card, and money orders, and is responsible for the cash fund and all payments received.
Enter cash and credit card totals into Armed Forces Billing and Collection Utilization Solution (ABACUS) system.
Print a draft collection voucher and balance the cash drawer and other negotiable instruments against the collections voucher minus the cash change fund authorized.
Ensure all totals balance and reconcile discrepancies by referring to the cash collection detail report or to hard copies of invoices and receipts accumulated during the business day.
Collect forms form hospital departments with patient signature or promissory notes that ensure patients understand responsibility to make payments for treatments.

- This is a DOD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 1 within 2 years of appointment..

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes accepting and receiving full or partial payments in the form of US currency to include cash, check, credit card, money orders and electronic deposits; ensuring all totals balance and reconciling discrepancies by referring to reports, invoices and/or receipts; and entering cash and credit card collection totals into a billing system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
