Temporary Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
Duties
Perform work for the installation, repair, maintenance, and modification of a wide variety locking devices with varying makes and models found in doors, desks, safes, vaults, compartments, mobile equipment, igloos, buildings, and secured areas.
Disassemble, repair, clean, reassemble, and reinstall a large variety of moderate to complex locking devices.
Check the condition of foundations, walks, flooring, roofs, doors, windows, guttering, roof joists and rafters, concrete walls, and block walls.
Operate a light truck or van to and from job site in the performance of these duties.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
- Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Kaba Mas certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Army Motor Vehicle operator's permit.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an LOCKSMITH without more than normal supervision. Perform common Locksmith tasks including utilizing established safety practices, read instruments and gauges, record operating data, adjust and perform limited diagnostics checks on devices. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level Utility Systems Repairer-Operator who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work assignments require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling for prolonged periods, as well as working in cramped and awkward positions. Incumbent is required to lift items weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is normally performed in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated area. Occasionally work is done in areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and scrapes.
