This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISOR AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Positon Description D0734000 is part of the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Kansas Air National Guard.
Duties
As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8852-10, you will plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. The Supervisor provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies and relies upon the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and controls received. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

AFSC: 2A690
**Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 80 pounds such as generators, engine starters, and ejection seats with the assistance of weight handing equipment or other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps; engine noise, heat, blast, intake suction, rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
