Duties

You will acquire, manage, and allocate resources to execute one or more complex projects. You will Lead/perform scientific work involving design, construction, and operation of geographic and related computer systems, including the integration of hardware and software. You will conduct analytic and comparative studies to define geographic conditions throughout operational areas. You will develop geographically representative simulations using the Next Generation Threat System, Tactical Simulation, and other modeling and simulation software. You will develop, test, and evaluate information systems, analyzing design constraints and trade-offs pertaining to integration with one or more information warfare systems.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Generally, current Federal employees applying for STRL jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and stated in your resume.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Perform analytic and comparative studies to define geographic conditions throughout operational areas.; experience developing geographically representative simulations using the Next Generation Threat System, Tactical Simulation, and other modeling and simulation software. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

1. Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
