This position is located in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS), Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Section at the VA Pacific Island Health Care System (VAPIHCS). The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide range of clerical functions and supporting various P&SAS clinics, to include purchasing agents and prosthetic representatives. The location of this position is in Kapolei, HI.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major Duties: Supervising the reception area, screening, and routing calls. Operate and maintain a wide variety of office equipment and computers and maintain ADP security. Review and distribute electronic P&SAS consults for prosthetic equipment and services to appropriate purchasing agent or prosthetic representative. Receive, review, and distribute incoming mail. Assist purchasing agents with packaging and mailing prosthetic supplies to Veteran's residence. Obtain and reviews P&SAS records maintained in the office, or in the VISTA/CPRS system to determine Veteran's entitlement. Analyze each prescription received for completeness/accuracy, HCPCS codes, ICD-9 codes, etc. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:30AM - 4:00PM Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must have one of the following: EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Program Support Assistant at the full performance level (GS-5), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: 1) Responsible for providing administrative support to an office; 2) Collect, compile and track data and information; 3) Process documents and reports; 4) Establish, update and maintain office files and records; 5) Perform automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR EDUCATION: Must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have an equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Organizational AwarenessPerformance MeasurementProject Management IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work involves some walking around involved in collecting documentation/data needed to be recorded. The S&SAS storage room is located upstairs, this will require walking up and down one flight of stairs. Some lifting and stretching is required to obtain some stock items, files, documents, print paper, or office supplies. The greatest portion of this position is repetitive typing on a computer keyboard, and glare from the computer monitor. Incumbent may be required to lift packages and prosthetics equipment weighing up to 15 pounds. The work is performed primarily in an office setting with other P&SAS personnel.
