This National Guard position is for a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1910000 and is part of the OR USPFO, National Guard.
Duties
As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC) (TITLE 32), WG-5703-9, this position is located in the USPFO. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall operations of a small shop. The position oversees and directs works of one or more Motor Vehicle Operators, WG-5703, who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.
(1) Serves as a Small Shop Chief performing all of the following tasks:
(a) Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s).
(b) Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program.
(c) Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements.
(d) Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance.
(e) Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
(f) Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
(g) May provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc.
(2) Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit.
(3) Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- National Guard Membership is required.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

- U.S. citizenship is required.

- Must be able to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance for the position.
- Compatible Military MOS Assignments: Enlisted: 91, 25B, 36B, 51C, 88M, 88N, 89A, 89B, 92A, 92F, 92G, 92Y.
- Military Grades: Enlisted Members only.
- Must have or be able to obtain operator maintenance ability for all types of equipment and have a Commercial Driver License.
Qualifications
Areas of Consideration:
Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ARNG.
Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ARNG.
Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ARNG.
GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Work involved the operation and operational maintenance of one or more motor vehicles to transport personnel, supplies, materials or equipment. Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.
Must have at least 18 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations.
