Job opening: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER

Salary: $29 - 34 per hour

You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will plan maintenance work assignments required to accomplish mission. You will determine tools needed to complete maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fencing, storm drains, roads, or other facilities. You will direct development or formulation of work activities which support goals and objectives related to maintenance work operations. You will determine resources (e.g., personnel, tools, materials, equipment) needed to perform maintenance work. You will ensure team is instructed on work requirements, sequence, procedures, and deadlines to be met. You will check work in progress and when finished to see that instructions/requirements and deadlines are met. You will ensure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • You may be required to work at a job site or location other than the permanently assigned location.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Serves as working leader over at least three trades and crafts' employees; 2) Coordinates between supervisor and teams of employees; 3) Performs as team leader or works independently on assigned projects using in depth skill, knowledge and experience on assigned projects; 3)Ensures team is instructed on work requirements, sequence, procedures and deadlines to be met; 4) Provides safety guidance to team members; 5) Ensures needed materials and tools are available; and 6) Reports to the supervisor on status and progress of work and causes for delays.
