About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a senior Public Affairs Specialist responsible for managing the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, major tenant units, and serviced agencies media relations program which requires training, planning, and coordinating and evaluating the dissemination of information relating to command programs,
Duties
Responds to news media inquiries-including national print and electronic media and provides information in a variety of formats.
Develops and writes information materials designed to reach national internal and external audiences through the news media such as wire services, radio, television, newspaper, web and social media, etc
Establishes and develops effective relationships with media representatives and public affairs personnel of specialized groups, including trade publication media and industry public affairs personnel
Prepares media pitch letters and invitations to such activities as guided tours, special events, open houses, ceremonies and mission briefings.
Responds in oral or written form to requests for information from the general public by determining nature of data requested and collecting and assembling materials.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting public affairs planning and executing Media Relations strategies for external campaigns for special events and/or news of interest to local, regional and national civilian media. 2) Writing articles to be published on social media site 3) Working as a member of a public affairs team to develop proactive responses; and 4) Communicating the organization's mission to an audience This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
