You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE SUPPRESSION DIVISION of NAVAL STATION EVERETT.

Duties

You will direct firefighters during structural, aircraft, and shipboard fire suppression and extinguishing. You will oversee the planning and assignment of work to ensure it is completed based on priorities and resource capabilities. You will coordinate with officers on other shifts and stations to ensure work accomplishment, training, and priorities are met. You will brief senior leaders or other employees on matters on firefighting actives, personnel, and equipment.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • The employee is required to work a 72-hour week which includes weekends and holidays. Subject to mandatory overtime and recall.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Employee is encouraged to participate in a physical fitness program.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Responding to emergency situations, directing the crew, and conducting fire ground operations, 2) Overseeing and directing day-to-day operations of multiple fire stations with two or more firefighting crews (including a Lead Firefighter and assigned crew) per station who drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity; 3) Performing crash and rescue operations; and 4) Assisting in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Fire Officer I, II, III, Fire Inspector I, II, Fire Instructor I, II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Incident Commander, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
