This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as a Facilities Services Assistant at a large multi-purpose hydropower facility, in support of a comprehensive predictive, preventative, and breakdown maintenance control program which includes diverse and complex maintenance activities.
Duties
Utilizes a Facility and Equipment Maintenance System (FEMS) to provide system control, oversight, repair history, analysis, data entry, and documentation of current and future maintenance operations for the ongoing maintenance management program.
Responsible for accounting data and status changes on all work orders for work to be performed anywhere on the project.
Works with engineers and crew supervisors to enter detailed data for job plans.
Enters daily time for the maintenance crews into FEM ensuring that the information is complete coordinating with the Crew Foreman if there is missing or incorrect information.
Manages and maintains a library of manuals needed for support of the maintenance program, ensures they are kept up-to-date and cross-referenced to aid in ease of retrieval and ensure that modifications are updated in manuals.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-05 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience tracking or scheduling maintenance on equipment and/or facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
GS-06 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience scheduling maintenance or repair work for industrial equipment/machinery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-07 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience scheduling maintenance and repair work for industrial equipment/machinery using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-06 and GS-07 grade levels, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
