You will serve as a Pipefitter Leader in the Production Division, Public Works Department Maine (Kittery) of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will perform preventative maintenance, install, modify, and repair high-pressure and low-pressure piping systems.
You will adjust, repair, and replace valves of various types.
You will plan and lay out the installation, modification, and repair of piping systems and equipment.
You will use work orders, building plans, blueprints, GIS drawings, and piping diagrams to complete assigned work.
You will follow prescribed safety procedures and environmental control safeguards.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current state Water Works Operator license and a state Wastewater Operators license within 12 months of onboarding.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain any national, state or local trades license required of pipefitters working without supervision where the PWD is located within 12 months of onboarding.
- You may be required to obtain and maintain a current backflow prevention and cross-connection control license within 12 months of onboarding.
- You may be required to complete the Confined Space Safety Course A-493-0030 through the Naval Safety and Environmental Training Center within 12 months of onboarding.
- You may be required to obtain and maintain a current Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 12 months of onboarding.
- You may be required to obtain and maintain current licenses to operate Fork Lift, High Lift (JLG), Bucket Truck and/or construction equipment within 12 months of onboarding.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
