National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.

Duties

Maintains the schedule of operation of all video teleconferencing suites, in both classified or unclassified configuration. Assists in the routine production of live broadcasts of interactive video teleconferences. Ensures proper setup, routine operation, and Maintenace of all video records, computer editing systems, in-house closed circuit television system, A/V equipment, and video duplicating equipment. Provides A/V support, coordinates and schedules all visual aides required for all functions and presentations. Responsible for the technical and administrative operations of four Distance Learning suites (auditoriums, classrooms, VTC connections between computers, and various other dial up VTC systems.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
  • Work beyond normal duty hours is occasionally required in the form of extended workdays or weekends.
  • In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (12/19/2005), the selectee must meet Information Assurance Certification standards for IAT Level III Certification.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as: setting up, operating, and maintenance of video recorders, assisting in production of broadcasts, and maintaining operating schedules. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education Requirements [Series 1071]: Graduate Education: Masters major study in photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. An equivalent combination of successfully completed, qualifying education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
