This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Birmingham Disaster Loan Service Center in Birmingham, AL. Incumbent serves as a Loan Specialist and is responsible for servicing or liquidating a full range of disaster business and home loans.

Duties

Reviews a variety of consumer and commercial loan documents, most of which include consideration and evaluation of complication factors and determines - SBA's right in the collateral. Analyzes financial statements of obligors and endeavors to determines their prospects for continued payment on consumer and commercial loans in connection with modifications of payments or other loan terms. Prepares written credit recommendations and obtains supervisory approval on a variety of collection as well as real estate transactions. Prepares written recommendations charges off actions on consumer and commercial loans where all collateral has been disposed of or where SBA determines that further liquidation of collateral is not economically feasible.

Qualifications

GS-11: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: performing in-depth analysis of obligor's financial statements, tax returns, and earning potential of a variety of business enterprises, making recommendations for residential and commercial/business loan request or servicing/liquidation actions; and developing processes that utilize electronic data generated from various sources such as Microsoft SQL Server and VOIP Phone System in order to conduct analysis and generate reports for management. GS-11: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work where the major study is in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology. Combination of Experience and Education:

GS-11: A combination of related graduate education and specialized experience as specified above. For example, an applicant who has 1.5 full years of Ph.D. level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.
