About the Position: Is located at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center with the Director for Clinical Support in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Fort Belvoir VA 22060 Hours of work: Standard Business Hours, situational hours of work outside of standard business hours (mission dependent)

Duties

Serve as the Clinical Pharmacy Services Program Coordinator. The incumbent is recognized among peers as the troubleshooter and expert for clinical pharmacy related matters. Lead the development and maintenance of clinical program operations and ambulatory care clinics; such as, facility-wide therapy monitoring (e.x. Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee). Incumbent is an expert on pharmaceuticals, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics in a manner that impactfully contributes to the MTF’s Pharmacy and Therapeutic’s Committee. Serve as a privileged Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner for ambulatory/acute care areas and independently manage the care of patients. Prepares, conducts, or oversees the training of students, pharmacists, and other providers on the use of pharmaceuticals. Serve as the supervisor of clinical pharmacy operations for the hospital. Performs the full range of personnel management duties. Develops plans to optimize subordinates’ work and management reports to support the mission of the department and MTF.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call "basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: All applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to the licensure and educational requirements described above, a minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes providing clinical pharmaceutical care for patients in a clinical environment; advise on medication therapy management for various conditions; training/educating health care professionals on the use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals and lead others. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Preferred: candidate to have completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency. An active Board Certification from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties is desired. Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
