About the Position: Serves as a Nursing Assistant on site in the Primary Care Clinic, NA using government furnished supplies, facilities, and equipment within the assigned unit of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in Department of Defense (DoD) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Performs a range of treatment procedures for patients. Takes and records vital signs, height, and weight. Obtains laboratory reports. Assists and instructs the patient on the use of specialized equipment.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• Position Requires Drug and Alcohol Testing
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of General Experience that demonstrates my ability to (or) that has provided me with familiarity with nonprofessional nursing care, such as performing work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing or patient care facility AND I have at least six months of Specialized Experience which is equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing personal nursing care, such as, feeding, bathing, or transporting patients; maintaining patient medical records; and obtaining vital signs or specimens from patients. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.
