The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical authorities over activities assigned to Special Warfare Training Support Squadron Student Actions section. (Contd in Duties below)
Duties
SUMMARY
This sections processes student orders through MILPDS for tech training within Special Warfare pipelines for Pararescue, Combat Control, Tactical Air Control Party, Special Reconnaissance, Special Tactics Officer, Combat Rescue Officer, and Tactical Air Control Party Officer AFSC's.
DUTIES
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Special Warfare Training Support Squadron Student Actions Office.
Conducts personnel program management to include Temporary Duty Training (TDY) assignment, training course allocation, Permanent Change of Station (PCS), training elimination, and reclassification processes in support of Special Warfare training.
Provides administrative oversight to the Student Actions assignments processes.
Represents Special Warfare Training Support Squadron Student Actions Office with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.
- Work is performed in an office setting and is primarily sedentary; however, may require periodic visits to geographically separated units.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- A Baccalaureate degree is highly desirable.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes 1) Working knowledge of personnel programs, operations, procedures, technical training pipeline programs and training data processing rules. 2) Providing a knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3) Planning, organizing, and directing the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. 4) Analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5) Communicating orally and in writing. 6) Accomplishing special training studies and projects, accomplishing quality/quantity of work and establishing student actions program objectives while assessing progress toward their achievement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of personnel programs, operations, procedures, technical training pipeline programs and training data processing rules.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through active duty military supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Skill in communicating both orally and in writing.
6. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects, accomplish expected quality/quantity of work and establish student actions program objectives while assessing progress toward their achievement.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
