You will serve as a SECURITY OFFICER in the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) of NMRTC LEMOORE CA. This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will enforce Physical Security regulations to meet organizational safety readiness goals or objectives. You will develop continuing improvements to the Information Security program to meet operational needs. You will establish or maintain security files for command personnel You will determine the security classification level required for the security of materials, facilities, and information. You will analyze and evaluate security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Must submit to participate in the Defense Security Service's Security Professional Education Development (SPeD} program, attaining a minimum of Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC} within two years of selection to the position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Interpreting Office of Personnel Management security policies and evaluate adequacy of command security programs. Formulating policies and procedures pertaining to information and personnel security programs. Using security equipment and devices to detect or prevent vulnerabilities to personnel and property. Performing multi-security functions utilizing separate and distinct processes and methods to arrive at a sound decision. Coordinating with Human Resources to ensure the proper access, background checks, and other administrative critical evaluations are created and maintained for all staff on a by need basis. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
