In this position as Inspector General Specialist, the primary purpose is to serve as the Wing Inspections Team Manager and Inspections Scheduler. This position is part of the Inspections team, which plans, directs, conducts, and monitors all activities related to the Air Force Inspection System (AFIS), Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP).

Manages all facets of the Wing Inspection Team; serves as the inspections scheduler and performs gatekeeper duties.
Assists with the self-assessment, exercise, and inspection programs.
Develop Wing Inspection Team program to execute the Commander's Inspection Program.

- In accordance with DAFI 90-302, incumbent must complete the Inspector General Training Course - Inspections (IGTC-I) and meet all other requirements for this position
- Up to 25% Travel possible, - Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 10 days per year

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirement described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualification standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (NH-02) or (GS-11) or equivalent performing the following duties: function as an Inspector General Specialist identifying, staff and training subject matter experts (SMEs) to augment the Inspector General (IG) to independently assess unit performance by conducting inspections. Perform Gatekeeper functions by facilitating optimum scheduling for inspections, evaluations, assessments, and other inspection-related visits, including audits and inquiries, conducted by outside entities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, Department of Defense (DoD) Regulations, Department of the Air Force Instructions, and other issues related to the inspection process, to include DoD and Air Force (AF) administrative and inspection policies, procedures, techniques, and practices, as well as public information release and denial determinations (Freedom of Information Act, Official Use Request, Privacy Act, etc.).
2. Knowledge of Air Force, Major Commands (MAJCOM), and installation program goals and objectives; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions related to actual events; and the relationship of the various wing/center entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations, evaluations and audits.
3. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to participate in the assessment and development of multifaceted plans and programs for conducting operations, and to adapt precedents or existing strategies to meet unusual needs, special demands, and determine feasible solutions to meet mission requirements.
4. Skill in analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources; and in analyzing reports to identify relevant issues, identify potential trends, and draw sound conclusions in order to make appropriate recommendations.
5. Ability to plan, organize, and negotiate effectively with senior specialists and management to accept and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures.
6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing; and work in a professional manner with installation leadership, as well as with local community, state, and/or Government agencies necessary to implement effective exercise and contingency response actions.
