This position is located in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6, on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest at Medford OR. This position serves as a technical expert in the operation, inspection and contract maintenance of vehicles and equipment for a national forest. Duties

Conduct inspections of repair, modification or rebuild work completed by others. Serve as agency liaison to secure service, repairs, parts and modifications to project owned equipment. Maintain schedules and flow of equipment between users and the contract service provider. Review and perform inspections (pre-work, in process and completed work) of all forest owned equipment which is repaired by the service provider to ensure safety, cost effectiveness and contract compliance. Perform inspections, as required, on equipment not included within the scope of maintenance contracts. Use a wide range of tools (precision measuring, clutch pilot, gear pulled, variety of hand/power, etc.) and equipment (e.g., grinding and seating, etc.) to maintain and repair automotive equipment. Determine what tool and/or piece of equipment to use to ensure work was accomplished in accordance with standard trade practices. Troubleshoot a variety of complex problems on automotive components and systems (e.g., engines, differentials, transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems, emission control systems, etc.). Participate in the drug testing program. Hold a Commercial Driver's License.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
