THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is for an Aerial Delivery Specialist Supervisor, Position Description Number D2150000 located at Georgia Aerial Delivery Support, DOL, Marietta, Ga This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Opened Nationwide to all members of the Army National Guard, Army Reserve or Active Duty Army.

Duties

As an Aerial Delivery Specialist Supervisor, WS-5210-10, you will: Planning: Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods, and policies. Determine skills, materials, and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, and information on staffing needs, and recommendations as to the scheduling of projected work. Work Direction: Assign tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Review work in progress or on completion. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Assure that equipment and material is available when needed. Coordinate work with other units. Administration: Recommend and participate in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedule and approve leave of subordinates. Set performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determine training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsel employees on problems. Adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives. Take informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems . Initiate proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Work to achieve the objectives of government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relations. Promote the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensure that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Maintain production reports and records. Periodically review position descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy. Initiate the detailing of subordinates to positions other than their own. Initiate or participate in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Perform non-supervisory work of the function as needed. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Ensure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization, and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license.
  • Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.
  • Must be able to pass an AirbornePhysical (PHA) and graduate from Airborne school.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted or Warrant Officer Compatible Military Assignments: EMOS: 92R, WMOS: 180A or 921A General Experience: Experience which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. Specialized Experience: Candidate must have at least 36 months specialized experience in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Physical Effort: Work assignments require moderate to heavy physical effort. Employees frequently lift, carry, push, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently handles items weighing more than 250 pounds, but assistance is usually available with heavy items. Frequent standing, climbing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside in a well-lighted, climate controlled and ventilated areas, and outside during normal as well as inclement weather conditions. In some cases work is performed at high altitudes due to high altitude parachute operations. Incumbent may be subject to hazards from toxic fumes, high pressure air, and high noise levels.
