About the position: This position will be assigned to the Moose Run Golf Course on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a Seasonal position Not-To-Exceed 31-OCT-2024. This position is Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility.

Duties

Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, hot sandwiches, fry items, cold sandwiches, and breakfast griddle items. Prepares and cooks dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, paring, cutting, slicing, and dicing; weighs, measures, and assemble ingredients for regular menu items; portions food for distribution and meal service, and covers, dates, and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. Ensures that foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Disassembles, cleans, and assembles component parts and accessories according to safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment. Cleans other work areas and equipment, such as worktables, floors, refrigerators, freezers, etc., on an established cleaning schedule. Performs other related duties as assigned. Works under the supervision of the Food and Beverage Leader and Snack Bar Manager. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be 21 years or older.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background investigation. Must be 21 years of age to serve alcohol.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
