The duty location for this position is in Rockville, MD. Duties

**Applicants please note: Additional selections may be made across the Department of Health and Human Services through this vacancy announcement.** Physician positions are a mission critical occupation for HRSA. These positions are responsible for formulation of policy and programs administered by Health Resources and Services Administration to provide advice and assistance to Bureaus, Department of Health and Human Services, and other Federal entities as related to the medical aspects of primary health care programs for underserved populations. As a Supervisory Physician, you will provide consultation on Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) programs to the Associate Administrator and Deputy Associate Administrator regarding health policy, program priorities, clinical quality and safety, legislative impact, and external activities. Your major duties and responsibilities include: Providing leadership and strategic direction to MCHB Division/Office Directors, assesses and implements plans and policies that further support the mission of the Bureau and the achievement of HRSA's goals. Directs an interdisciplinary group of health professionals and technical specialists who have expertise in such areas as medicine, nursing, public health, and social work. Directing special projects such as preparing issue and decision papers relating to the MCHB or HRSA programs and plans for use in briefings for a variety of officials, including White House and Office of Management and Budget (0MB) officials, and Congressional staff to inform decision-making by the MCHB and HRSA directors and others on major policy issues. Providing executive leadership and direction to ensure the integration of evidence-based clinical care and public health service delivery into all aspects of MCH programs. Formulating critical MCH, agency, department policy, and program initiatives. Providing authoritative medical advice in developing clinical and public health policies that incorporate the programmatic and legislative requirements of the MCHB programs. Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A. Degree: You must have a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A copy of your transcripts is required by the closing date of this announcement. Failure to do so will result in you being rated ineligible for this position. OR B. Have a Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. You must provide a copy of your transcripts, foreign equivalency, or ECFMG results with your application. Failure to do so will result in you being rated ineligible for this position. AND GRADUATE TRAINING:Your resume must clearly indicate the starting (MM/YYYY) and ending dates (MM/YYYY) and where the training was completed. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An Internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) . A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. AND For this GS-15 level position, you must have five (5) years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled OR equivalent experience and training. Appropriate specialties are those related to the position being filled such as Obstetrics-Gynecology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (Med-Peds), Internal Medicine, Pediatrics. Your resume must clearly indicate the starting (MM/YYYY) and ending dates (MM/YYYY) for each period of additional training and/or experience. AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENT: You must also have an active, permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. You must provide a COPY of your current/active license with your application by the closing date of this announcement. AND SELECTIVE FACTOR: In order to meet the basic qualification requirements for this position, you must have a current/active board certification or be board eligible by the American Board of Medical Specialties (A.B.M.S) in at least one of the following primary care disciplines: Obstetrics-Gynecology Family Medicine Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (Med-Peds) Internal Medicine Pediatrics You must provide documentation that allows HR to verify your current/active board certification or documentation of your board eligibility with your application by the closing date of this announcement.
