You will serve as an Industrial Hygiene Technician in the Bureau Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility (BUMED MTF) of NMRTC PEARL HARBOR HI.
Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) if 8.90% will be added to stated salary, subject to change without notice.
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will plan, coordinate, and conduct industrial hygiene sampling surveys to collect exposure monitoring data to assess work practices and environmental conditions.
You will follow Industrial Hygiene and related safety and environmental concepts, principles, and practices relating to a wide range of duties concerned with evaluating and measuring occupational health hazards in a variety of settings.
You will enter exposure monitoring data into Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS-IH).
Requirements

Qualifications
For GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Completing workplace monitoring in support of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple industrial commands/organizations across geographically dispersed areas.
Conducting complete workplace monitoring evaluations using various Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring equipment of work operations involving potentially hazardous occupational physical and chemical stressors with minimal oversight of an Industrial Hygienist.
Gathering data on-site for the recognized chemical and physical hazards of the work operations monitored.
Documenting workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards during the monitoring of work operations.
Managing Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs within an industrial hygiene program office.
Preparing instructional outlines and providing technical instruction to IH professionals, technicians and workplace monitors on the use of new technically advanced Industrial Hygiene equipment.
Utilizing MS Office Suite software such as Words, Excel, and/or Access.
Utilizing electronic data warehouse applications such as the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) for entering occupational exposure monitoring data.
For GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
For GS-07: SUCCESSFUL completion of one full year of graduate level education OR you have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
For GS-06: SUCCESSFUL completion of six months of graduate level education OR you have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
