As a your typical work assignments may include: -Provides administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. -Makes major operational decisions relating to all laboratory programs. -Provides overall supervision to laboratory personnel and support members. -Serves as expert consultant in planning, monitoring, and administering chemistry projects of national and international significance. -Provides technical insight into the development and management of policies, procedures, and operational schedules necessary for new systems and functions.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Applicants must meet ONE of the following qualification requirements: (A). Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR (B). Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualifications: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 Federal grade level in performing a full range of duties to include managing a laboratory system quality assurance program; developing policies, programs and objectives for forensic science services; and overseeing administrative areas, including financial/operating plan development, data system management and personnel management. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
