You will serve as the Emergency Management Specialist and Subject Matter Expert for Emergency Management matters for the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), responsible for day-to-day emergency management functions. You will provide oversight to the MSFC Emergency Operations Center by managing, and coordinating with Center leadership, performing preparedness and response activities associated with natural and/or man-made disasters, and complying with Federal guidelines.
Duties
Use specialty expertise in the Emergency Management area to perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. More specific duties, as determined by organizational needs, will be reflected in the individual’s performance plan.
Manage and coordinate the prevention of, protection from, preparedness for, response to, recovery from, and/or mitigation of crises, disasters, humanitarian emergencies, hazards, or natural and man-made/technological incidents.
Guide management, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of incidents/disasters, and to reduce the loss of life/property and harm to the environment.
Provide technical advice on preparedness/response activities associated with natural and/or man-made disasters. Provide coordination/assistance to activities to ensure the capability to continue essential functions during any event or incident.
Plan, coordinate, and execute NASA emergency management exercises.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Supporting the development and implementation of emergency management standards, regulations, practices, or training to identify, minimize, or eliminate hazards or threats;
Evaluating and providing advice on preparedness and response activities associated with natural or man-made disasters;
Developing or delivering briefings to a Crisis Action Team, Continuity of Operations team, or employees, and coordinating emergency response trainings, exercises, or assistance.
