You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader in the Facilities Maintenance Production Division, PWD Dahlgren of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will direct maintenance, repair and minor construction duties to address the sustainment needs of the assigned naval base. You will plan and schedule complex maintenance and repair projects. You will pass on Supervisor’s instructions, gets work started, and demonstrates proper work methods to other journeymen, worker and helper level personnel. You will operate motor vehicles, in order to deliver personnel, material and equipment to various work sites. You will work from blueprints, sketches and oral instructions given by the supervisor. You will form a team composed of appropriate tradesmen to complete the work, orders and lays out material, plans and schedules each phase of the work, performs and reviews the performance of others in the completion of the project. You will assure that safety, ventilation, lighting, and housekeeping rules are followed and maintenance is performed on tools and equipment. Incumbent will clean up the job site and shop area as required.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Periodic hearing and vision tests required.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Performing skilled labor in a specialized trade including electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration, pipefitting, plumbing, painting, carpentry, maintenance, or electronics; 2) Responding to service calls for maintenance repairs; 3) Providing technical guidance for trades personnel and craftsmen; 4) Performing preventative maintenance; 5) Reporting employee-related issues or complaints; and 6) Managing job orders and work requests.
