Duties
Maintains, repairs, adjusts and calibrates highly complex electronic sensing and computer controlled materials handling equipment under Equipment Management and Control Systems (EMACS).
Maintains, repairs, adjusts and calibrates highly complex electronic sensing and computer controlled materials handling equipment.
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and tests highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control such as computer controlled warehousing/stock handling vehicles and equipment.
Repairs and maintains the electrical, electronic and electromechanical aspects of a variety of material handling equipment.
May perform the overhaul, installation, maintenance, modification, repair and testing of various types of electronically controlled industrial equipment and materials handling equipment.
Reads and interprets blueprints, schematic and wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and other guidance material.
Performs the full range of overhaul and repair work on hydraulic lifts, material handling equipment, cargo transporters, and truck cranes.
Disassembles, repairs and/or rebuilds components and assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials by fitting and installing needed parts.
Provides on-the-job proficiency, and practical training to trainee mechanics.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to do the work of an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic: I independently perform the more complex duties such as: testing, analyzing, repairing, and reprogramming a wide variety of highly complicated materials handling equipment; installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating and testing highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control such as computer controlled warehousing/stock handling vehicles using diagnostic software; repairing, overhauling, tearing down/rebuilding, and modifying systems and components, and determining parts requirements for vehicles and mobile equipment.
