Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.

Duties

Serves as the unit's expert intelligence analyst for the commander and staff on all intelligence matters, including intelligence processes, support requirements, technical aspects of weapons systems, terrorist operational methods as well as daily-integrated intelligence support in alert, crisis, and Force Protection situations. Develops, monitors, and ensures execution of unit internal and external intelligence training programs tailored to the unit's mission. Ensures the intelligence function maintains a capability to provide timely and accurate operational intelligence support and fully trained intelligence personnel during peacetime and contingency operations. Manages the unit intelligence mobility program. Represents the unit regarding intelligence program policies, procedures and issues. Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities for 1-2 subordinate personnel.

• This position has been identified as a drug testing designated position. The incumbent of this position may be selected for random drug testing, and be subject to reasonable suspicion testing and safety mishap or accident testing.

• Incumbent may be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
• This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. *********THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN (ART) POSITION*********** ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force (AF0 Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of intelligence procedures, methodology, techniques and strategies including but no limited to: force protection; classified materials handling; Aerospace Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (AIPB) and Predictive Battlespace Awareness (PBA) analysis; mobility/deployment preparations, requirements and materials such as Combat Mission folders; AFRC intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) computer systems/software; command, control and communications protection; intelligence data collection, validation and production procedures; and project management techniques; knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of real or potential security threats to or problems for program operations; knowledge of and ability to develop intelligence career field training programs and conduct training and testing; and knowledge of military structure, political affairs and history to analyze intelligence data. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Extensive knowledge of intelligence procedures, methodology, techniques and strategies including but not limited to: force protection; classified materials handling; Aerospace Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (AIPB) and Predictive Battlespace Awareness (PBA) analysis; mobility/deployment preparations, requirements and materials such as Combat Mission folders; AFRC intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR)computer systems/software; command, control and communications protection; intelligence data collection, validation and production procedures; and project management techniques. 2. Broad knowledge of military structure, political affairs and history regarding assigned area when analyzing intelligence data. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of real or potential security threats to or problems for program operations. 3. Ability to plan detailed and complex studies, anticipate and solve problems, and to collect, organize, and interrelate large amounts of diversely formatted data drawn from a wide variety of sources. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals and groups within the office as well as outside the immediate work unit. 4. Ability to critically evaluate sources of information and establish validity of facts. 5. Knowledge of and ability to develop intelligence career field training programs and conduct training and testing. Knowledge of personnel management procedures related to the supervisory role. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, under both normal and high stress conditions associated with emergency situations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
