The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary facility manager ensuring the maintenance and control of Polaris Hall and the Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD).

Duties
Facility Management. Maintains Polaris Hall and the Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD) facilities within acceptable standards.
Equipment Management. Assists with development, coordination, and execution plans for delivery, storage, installation and removal of furnishings and equipment.
Supply management. Performs supply inventory duties as the facility supply custodian.
Security, Safety, and Special Events Support. Performs duties to ensure the health, safety, and security of Polaris Hall and CCLD facilities.
Attends meetings, working groups, and coordinates with various personnel to accomplish facility work.

- Incumbent may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to meet mission requirements.
- Employee may be detailed to other areas, and or duties as mission requires.
- May occasionally operate electric carts, forklifts, and other equipment as required in connection with furniture removal, installation, and equipment delivery. Safely drives government vehicles up to 1 ½ tons off-base within the local area.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Equipment Facilities and Services Series, 1601.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes general knowledge of federal policies and practical concepts, fundamentals, and procedures relating to facility services and supply programs, planning and equipment management functions, operations, and program requirements. Sound working knowledge of government procurement systems. Knowledge of institutional equipment, appliances, and maintenance requirements.

EDUCATION: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position or a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, education must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
General knowledge of federal policies and practical concepts, fundamentals, and procedures relating to facility services and supply programs, planning and equipment management functions, operations, and program requirements.
Ability to develop and implement sound safety and security programs for the buildings.
Sound working knowledge of government procurement systems.
Ability to monitor and develop technical specifications for a variety of service contracts Ability to set up and tear down and tables and chairs for meetings, special events, and/or conferences according to plans and diagrams.
Knowledge of institutional equipment, appliances, and maintenance requirements.
Skill in written and oral communications to negotiate or defend matters in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to work.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
