Duties

This position will allow you to support the field and USBP mission by identifying, and evaluating current, emerging, and potential USBP-wide transportation and maintenance (vehicles and equipment) problems. This position starts at a salary of $103,409.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $134,435.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $134,435.00 (GS-13 Step 10). In this Transportation Specialist position, you will provide guidance and direction on transportation and maintenance operations. Typical work assignments include: Overseeing USBP transportation and fleet sustainment maintenance activities and processes Approving, directing, and controlling USBP Transportation and Fleet Management Programs Monitoring and correcting data in Automated Fleet Management Information Systems for statistical analysis and data reporting Conducting root-cause analyses to resolve mission accomplishment impasses, obstacles, or impediments

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Evaluating transportation, maintenance and related logistics programs and support systems Participating in the development of transportation and maintenance management programs Managing vehicles and equipment projects to implement strategies that advance transportation programs or policies Providing evaluation of transportation on how they interrelate and impact on logistics and operations goals, objectives, and productivity Developing new transportation and maintenance information processes and approaches to resolve complex transportation problems You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess the experience or substitution of education, if applicable, as described below: Basic Requirement: You must provide supporting documentation in your application to show you meet the basic requirement below. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/26/2024. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period. Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP eligible.
