You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Public Works Business Line of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will work independently, however on occasion will work on a project as a team member.
You will prepare planning documents, job plans, material list, investigations, engineering estimates, etc. for various structures.
You will analyze operational problems and recommend changes to correct deficiencies.
You will develop reports to keep management informed regarding safety compliance.
You will resolve problems to ensure safety requirements are satisfied in accordance with established regulations and standards.
You will coordinate efforts of organizational elements to ensure project progress.
Requirements

- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including rotating shifts, overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and/or be "called back" to meet mission requirements.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Must be able to successfully complete the following training courses within prescribed timeframe: Completion of training require by the CI or PW Community Management Plan, Mandatory Training and the employee's Individual Development (IDP).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
To be considered for GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Evaluating the information received from the field and determine the urgency and make an effective decision independently;
2) Interpreting and applying technical guidelines appropriate to each individual circumstance to make decisions;
3) Analyzing processes used in facility maintenance activities to make recommendation for changes; ,
4) Measuring, and calculating system delivery capacities; while displaying knowledge of facility systems and the ability to field; and
5) Assisting with developing scopes of work, contract performance standards and government estimates.

To be considered for GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Evaluating information received from the field and determine the validity and urgency of the information; 2) Selecting, interpreting, and applying technical guidelines to make decisions and analyze processes used in facility maintenance activities;
3) Exhibiting familiarity using the complexities of computerized facility and work order management systems;
4) Measuring, and calculating system delivery capacities; while displaying knowledge of facility systems and the ability to field;
5) Deciphering information from original equipment manufacturers manuals to make decisions independently in order to provide work packages and job hazard analysis (JHA); and
6) Developing contract performance standards and government estimates.
