This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is an Engineering Technician, GS-0802-07 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Fort Worth District, located in Grapevine, TX.

Duties

Perform or lead contract activities of technical nature required at an operational Corps of Engineers project including drafting plans, coordinating and inspecting work of both contractor and hired labor. Investigate, analyze and recommend course and method of action complete with plans, specifications, bills of material and cost estimates. Prepare detailed work plans including specifications, recommended contractual support bills of material and cost estimates to accomplish various maintenance and construction tasks at a civil works operational project. Maintain and repair facilities including but not limited to: comfort/shower stations, fee booths, information boards, signs, campsites, parking lots, picnic shelters, boat launch ramps, benches, beach facilities, and administration building. Maintain contract plans and specifications to assure late revisions due to change orders and amendments are updated. Prepare detailed work plans including specifications, recommended contractual support bills of material and cost estimates to accomplish various maintenance and construction tasks at a civil works operational project.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) preparing simple scopes of work for maintenance or construction contracts AND 2) leading others in performing electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance. OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
