Job opening: Electronic Industrial Control Mechanic

Salary: $27 - 32 per hour

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Work assignments include a variety of consoles, retriever cranes, remote automated material handling equipment, conveyors, and component interrelated/interfaced with mainframe computer equipment. Perform duties such as services, repairs, and provides expertise on the electronic systems, subsystems, and components of automatic storage and retrieval systems (ASRS and ASRS-Plus) in various buildings and locations. Provide technical assistance to engineering, contractor, modification/changes to the equipment, and lower-graded personnel regarding modification/changes to the equipment. Check operational serviceability of all electronic and electrical components. Interpret non-English schematics and drawings to repair complex industrial equipment. Works with manufacturing technician to repair very complex industrial equipment and solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a preemployment and annual a medical examination.
  • This position requires frequent handling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally handles weighing over 60 pounds.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Position requires 5% TDY away from the work site.

I can troubleshoot, maintain, repair, replace, and/or modify complex electronic control and indicating systems, robotics, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Numerically Controlled (NC) equipment, Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment, electronic components/parts, and a variety of other test stands and test equipment. Maintaining and repairing critical industrial production machinery unique to the depot - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Use Hand and Power Tools (Electronics)Ingenuity (Ability to Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTroubleshooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: Work involves walking, standing, bending and working in awkward positions. Frequently handles and lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally may lift an item weighing up to 60 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in buildings that are moderately heated and occasionally outside where there is exposure to weather elements. Buildings have concrete floors and there is noise from running machinery. There is possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns and electrical shock. Since exposure to hazardous material/waste is possible, wares protective clothing and safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, ear plugs, etc.
