You will serve as a ELECTICIAN in the Public Works Division of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will install, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, system, and associated fixtures. You will plan and lay out the work, tracing hard-to-locate defects, problems, and completes repairs and installations. You will perform installation and repair of electrical systems such as primary and secondary utility services. You will determines and place distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and installs wiring, couplings, conduit relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices. You will use hand and power tools, such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines; and a wide variety of test equipment.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. To Qualify for the WG 10: 1) Installing, repairing, troubleshooting, modifying, loading/testing new and existing electrical systems, fixtures, controls and equipment, including secondary distribution lines; 2) working from blueprints, wiring diagrams, drawings and manuals to plan and lay out routing, location, type, size, gauges, load, and safe operation of lines, circuits, systems and equipment; 3) removing electrical and electronic components and wiring to perform routine repair and maintenance; and 4) replacing worn or bad switches, relays, and outlets by unscrewing or cutting wiring from connections, inserting the replacement, and splicing, tightening, and soldering wiring to connections. To Qualify for the WG 08: 1) working from blueprints, wiring diagrams, drawings and manuals to plan and lay out routing, location, type, size, gauges, load, and safe operation of lines, circuits, systems and equipment; 2) Assisting with the Installing, repairing, troubleshooting, modifying, loading/testing new and existing electrical systems, fixtures, controls and equipment, including secondary distribution lines; and 3) replacing worn or bad switches, relays, and outlets by unscrewing or cutting wiring from connections, inserting the replacement, and splicing, tightening, and soldering wiring to connections, and 4) Carrying out oral and written instructions to complete work orders.. **NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.** Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
