This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Acquisition Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: TACOM is located at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan which is in Detroit's largest suburb located about 15 miles north of downtown.

Duties

Provides technical assistance in the operation and maintenance of equipment covering organizational, field and depot maintenance to units in CONUS, overseas commands and foreign countries in order to supplement normal capabilities of field agencies. Develops integrated logistics support plans which address all of the principal elements of support related to the total system life cycle. Formulates and/or monitors the combined efforts of supporting staff, installations and contractors to ensure optimum maintainability of assigned equipment. Monitors periodic and special inspection of overhaul, maintenance in storage, and storage operations being performed at field facilities. Responsible to attend and participate in all IPTs/Meetings/Provisioning conferences with respective PM, ILSC and DLA counterparts in regard to the assigned weapon system.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The employee must meet the DoDI 5000.66 requirements applicable to the Career Category/Functional Area and the Career Level Certification assigned on the sequenced position Conditions of Employment data fields in the header of the PD/PRD.
  • Foundational Career Level Certification or Contracting Professional Certification must be met within 3 years.
  • Practitioner Career Level Certification must be met within 5 years.
  • Advanced Career Level Certification must be met within 4 years.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • You may be expected to travel up to 25% for this position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Providing logistical support and/or guidance on maintenance procedures and engineering change proposals; (2) Providing technical assistance in the operation, testing, and/or maintenance of field equipment; (3) Resolving field problems through technical research/investigations of materiel deficiencies and malfunctions; (4) Utilizing logistics databases (such as LMP/Powerlog- J/COMPASS) to input provisioning data, updates, and/or data extraction; and (5) Developing maintenance statements of work, contract data requirements list, and/or national maintenance work requirements. This definition of Specialized Experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the Federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
