The Secretary is responsible for utilizing office automation equipment to prepare correspondence, documents and reports; work performed requires the services of a qualified typist.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Receives visitors and telephone calls to the office and routes accordingly.
Manages staff calendars to include resolving scheduling conflicts and scheduling/rescheduling appointments.
Manages and prepares a range of correspondence, including memorandums, meeting minutes, reports, and other correspondence, as needed.
Routes documents for approval and tracks to completion for the leadership team.
Prepares travel arrangements for staff; coordinates conferences and meetings; and prepares meeting agendas.
Prints, copies, faxes, orders supplies, initiates work orders, and maintains files.
Utilizes a range of office automation software.
Serves as timekeeper for the department.
May serve as a purchase card holder for the department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Qualifications
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade at any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 level. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates a one-year time-in-grade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling and managing a calendar of appointments; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; preparing travel arrangements; utilizing various computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.; and maintaining files.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The work is administrative in nature, primarily sedentary. Typically, the person in this position may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
