About the position: This position is assigned to the Child Development Center on F. E. Warren AFB, WY.
This position is considered Regular Full Time with a guarantee of 35 hours but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. As a Regular Full Time employee, you are eligible for leave and benefits; health and life insurance, 401K, and retirement.
The starting pay for this position is set by Federal pay setting regulations at $25.98 per hour.
Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the planning, scheduling, and supervising of NAF employees in the Child Development Center kitchen
Instruct employees on appropriate preparation of food for children
Prepares schedules and approves/disapproves leave
Ensures employees follow health and safety standards
Using a full range of quantity cooking procedures from common or frequently used to new or difficult recipes, over a period of time prepares a variety of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, sauces and gravies.
On a day-to-day basis, prepares four or more menu items for one meal which involves planning and coordinating steps to ensure that all items are ready for serving at the same time; or prepares menu items using special or difficult recipes involving many steps, ingredients, or long preparation time; or may do both
May test and evaluate new food products
Examine all food for quality and freshness before preparation
May make adjustments or substitutions in food preparation procedures and seasoning
Responsible for inventory of foods, supplies and equipment.
Prepares USDA and FDA reports
Ensures equipment is cleaned and maintained
Provides food handlers training to child care providers
Physical Effort: Continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.

Requirements
- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, including a NACI Tier 1 background investigation and a Childcare Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience in supervising the work of subordinate employees in accomplishing cooking duties
Must have experience in and a thorough knowledge of food preparation and characteristics of foods
Must be able to plan, coordinate, and time sequence steps needed to prepare entire meals on time without overcooking or waste and prepare a variety of food items appropriate for children
Must be able to adjust recipes for servings required, substitutions and seasoning
Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a restaurant, club, cafeteria, or similar establishment
Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 40 pounds
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
