Area of Consideration: Government Wide This position is located at the Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center, Division of Clinical Services, Physical Rehabilitation Department, Zuni, New Mexico. The incumbent will provide full range of physical therapy treatment and procedures. Position reports to the Director, Rehabilitation Department.

Duties

This position is being announced concurrently under Delegated Examining Procedures. Please review vacancy announcement number IHS-24-AQ-12344615-DE for eligibility requirements. Conduct comprehensive assessment and develop treatment regimens for patients who are acutely ill or have a combination of severe physical disabilities with secondary complications. Consult with patients and health professionals to understand nature of problems, assess physical capabilities/limitations, and motivate participation in therapeutic activities. Conduct ongoing evaluations of therapy results in order to assess patient progress and response. Maintains patient evaluation progress notes. Participate with health care team in providing consultation services on patient management, discharge planning, special equipment, and training as appropriate.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Note: Employees currently assigned in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree that included: A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; and Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Specialized Experience: Experience in planning and providing the full range of physical therapy treatment and procedures. Experience in performing comprehensive assessment for patients who are acutely ill or have a combination of severe physical disabilities with secondary complications; consulting with patients and health professionals to assess physical capabilities and motivate participation in therapeutic activities; conducting ongoing evaluations of therapy to assess patient progress and maintaining patient progress notes; participating in providing consultation services on patient management and discharge. Public Health Service (PHS) Licensure Policy: Each PHS Physical Therapist must possess and maintain a current, valid physical therapy license in a State. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
