You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN in the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Office of the Assistant Vice President for Administration, Facilities Division of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

Duties

You will provide maintenance and repair of utilities, water, sewage, alteration of heating, ventiliation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC and R); grounds maintenance; and provision of associate building services. You will apply skill in using hand and power tools and test equipment such as multimeters, frequency and watt meters, ampmeters, circuit analyzers, breaker testers, etc. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. You will install power distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, and phase requirements to distribution panels, control boards, alarm systems, lighting systems, etc. You will work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, drawings, and manuals to plan and lay out routing, location, type, size, gauge, load, and safe operation of lines, circuits, systems, and equipment. You will install, maintain, and repair receptacles, circuit breakers safety interrupters, relays, panels, etc. You will install, maintain, and repair systems and equipment in support of computer centers, animal habitats, research projects, etc.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position requires frequent walking, standing, stooping, climbing and working in cramped conditions.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will work both inside and outside in any weather.
  • You will frequently lift and carry parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds and may occasionally lift larger assemblies weighing up to 80 pounds.
