In this position you serve as an Operations Research Analyst performing professional and scientific work requiring systematic, critical, intensive investigation into a subject in order to develop the principles, criteria, methods, and data to be used in support of projects or problem solving studies.

Manages cost, schedule, and performance attributes for software development and engineering analysis projects related to weapon employment from aircraft.
Oversees and supervises the Mission Planning Team in its development of 5 weapon planning software programs delivered to a variety of domestic and foreign customers.
Serves as lead safe escape analyst and safe escape subject matter expert for all USAF platforms.
Generates and reviews complex engineering documents providing technical guidance to a wide variety of aircraft and weapons program offices and other end users.

- Up to 25% Travel possible. This position is subject to approximately 30 days of travel per year.

- This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP). Unless specifically waived by the appropriate component official, the following are statutorily mandated requirements.
- Selectee must execute a written agreement to remain in Federal service in this position for at least three years. In signing such agreement, the employee does not forfeit any employee rights, nor does such agreement alter any other terms or COE
- The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment.
- This position also requires employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning Points every 24 months.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experiences is Operations Research Analyst performing professional and scientific work requiring systematic, critical, intensive investigation into a subject in order to develop the principles, criteria, methods, and data to be used in support of projects or problem solving studies.
Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate:
- Two years of experience in agile software development and/or testing or managing software programs
- Two years of experience in weapons test desired
- Two years of statistical analysis experience desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Professional knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts, and practices of operations research analysis to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, processes, and/or operational problems and procedures.
Knowledge of mathematics and analysis to perform studies and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate recommendations/conclusions clearly.
Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend solutions to senior analysts
Education
Basic Requirements:
Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
Evaluation of Education:
The primary requirement of operations research work is competence in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis rather than in the subject matter of the problem. Therefore, applicants should have sufficient knowledge of applied mathematics to understand and use the fundamental concepts and techniques of operations research methods of analysis. In addition, some positions may require knowledge of a specific subject area.
Courses acceptable for qualifying for operations research positions may have been taken in departments other than Operations Research, e.g., Engineering (usually Industrial Engineering), Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management Science.
The following are illustrative of acceptable courses: optimization; mathematical modeling; queueing theory; engineering; physics (except descriptive or survey courses); econometrics; psychometrics; biometrics; experimental psychology; physical chemistry; industrial process analysis; managerial economics; computer science; measurement for management; mathematical models in social phenomena; and courses that involved application of operations research techniques and methodologies to problems of management, marketing, systems design, and other specialized fields; or other comparable quantitative analysis courses for which college-level mathematics or statistics is a prerequisite. Courses in theory of probability and statistics are highly desirable, but are not specified as minimum educational requirements because to do so would possibly exclude some applicants who would otherwise be well qualified.
