Summary: As an Engineering Technician you will assist with technical support, maintenance and operation of back-up power and cooling plants and their distribution systems including miles of tunnels and buried piping systems.
Location: Public Buildings Service (PBS), National Capital Region (NCR), Heating Operations & Transmission Division.We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
This is an advanced developmental position. If selected at the GS-11 level, assignments will be limited and subject to review. You will receive on-the-job training enabling performance of the full range of duties at the GS-12 (full performance level)
Requirements
- US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
- Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date
- Meet time-in-grade within 30 days of the closing date, if applicable
- Register with Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
This GS-11 salary range starts at $82,764 per year.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level or higher in the Federal service. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience is work that has provided a practical knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering principles, concepts, andpractices with an emphasis on distribution control systems as it relates to the maintenance and repair construction of Power Generation Plant equipment; and a working understanding of trade practices, accepted safety policies, and use of protective equipment.
The GS-12 salary range starts at $99,200 per year.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience is expert knowledge to apply and perform troubleshooting and repair of controls, calibration of controls withinthe Power Generation Plant, and preventive maintenance; and to prepared detailed sketches and working drawings to improve projects being accomplished.
