The primary purpose of this position is: To exercise first level responsibility for NC3 Enterprise Center (NEC) computer security policy and nuclear system certification and accreditation support to the NC3 Enterprise and supported mission sets. Duties
Plans, and organizes the activities of the nuclear computer network security policy and certification and accreditation.
Serves as the nuclear system certification and accreditation focal point for operational support to the NEC IA mission.
Represents NEC at a variety of installation and functional area organizations: to include IA forums, exercises, OSD, DOD, JCS, NSS, SPO, Combatant Command, Service and agency level working groups, visits, and professional symposiums and conferences

- The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET (SCI) clearance as a condition of employment.
- This position is designated by the Air Force as a testing designated position under the civilian drug-testing program. It is mandatory for the incumbent to refrain from the use of illegal drugs and misuse of prescription medication.
- If requested, the incumbent must submit to urinalysis testing. The employee may be subject to random polygraph testing.
- The employee may be required to travel by commercial or military aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments.

- The employee may be recalled to duty, may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, and may be required to work overtime.
- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
- Incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within 6 months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this 6-month requirement may be granted. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal.
Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND at least one year (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying mastery of nuclear information assurance policies, concepts, standards, system operations to provide technical expertise on offensive and defensive DOD IA. Develops, interprets, policies, procedures and strategies governing IA in nuclear systems. Provides expert advice, guidance, decisions, and recommendations to senior leadership, system/network planners on the latest computer security developments, policy/program changes and conduct research to influence nuclear IT requirements. Applying expert knowledge of nuclear computer systems and related computer concepts, principles, and practices related to the Information Assurance Policy operations and environment; expert knowledge of related computer disciplines such as systems, networks, and communication lines.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of computer systems and related computer concepts, principles, and practices related to the Nuclear DOD IA environment. Knowledge of related computer disciplines such as systems, networks, communication lines, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, routers, and current reporting procedures.
2. Broad based technical knowledge of current DOD Nuclear computer network defense, information system operations, and procedures.
3. Extensive knowledge of DOD computer security policies and directives related to IA, and the protection of the Nuclear Communications Infrastructure.
4. Extensive knowledge of established DOD Nuclear computer network operations. Ability to interpret and develop IA policy, regulations, procedures, concepts, standards, and system processes.
5. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to conduct/coordinate activities associated ensuring rigorous application of information assurance policies, principals, and practices to all components of the architecture.
6. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
