About the Position: Serves as the Section Chief exercising delegated responsibility for execution of district Maintenance missions and programs. This covers maintenance of fixed facilities and equipment within the District Area of Operations.
Duties
Exercises initiative and judgment in executing assigned responsibilities, keeps supervisor informed of plans, progress, and issues, interprets technical requirements, and executes assigned work in conformance with Office and overall policies.
Responsible for the direction and supervision of professional and technical personnel, including students and recent graduates.
Responsible for management and execution of district facility and equipment maintenance projects including developing and managing schedules and resources, in support of the district's Operations and Maintenance program.
Supervises staff with the responsibility of coordinating hydrographic surveys, marine fleet management, and facility asset management system.
Coordinates and supports various district Operations and Maintenance programs to include uniforms, signs, real estate, and environmental compliance assessments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties may be required.

Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience providing technical and programmatic advice, recommending alternative solutions, and determining resource requirements for project accomplishment; overseeing project progress by conducting routine project delivery team meetings and periodic site visits to ensure adherence to project design, scope, schedule, budget and safety requirements; ability to lead multi-functional or diverse teams and people.
