About the Position: This position is with the St. Paul District. The incumbent manages the maintenance of assigned plant and equipment for all Physical Support Branch (PSS) dredges, floating plant, mobile land plant, and facilities.

Duties

Directs maintenance activities for assigned equipment and facilities. Identifies maintenance needs for new equipment. Troubleshoots assigned equipment and identifies the need for repairs that are beyond the ability of the maintenance coordinator to discern and handle. Determines best source of repair services. Authors procurement specifications as required for large or unique repairs. Will be assigned to develop a heavy equipment certification and recordkeeping program, ensuring all crane and heavy equipment operators have the proper training and certifications to allow operation of such equipment. Maintains a government credit card for making small purchases and adheres to Federal acquisition law and USACE regulation when using Government Purchase Card (GPC). Develops and maintains equipment records for assigned plant. Maintains utilization records for all assigned equipment. Reviews condition and utilization of assigned plant on at least an annual basis. Monitors work activities in the work units within the Branch for safe work practices, reporting any unsafe practices to crew member, supervisor, and second level supervisor.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Requires a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment and maintain the license for the duration of employment.
  • Required to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year after appointment and maintain this license.
  • Position requires a pre-employment physical exam due to the physical requirements of the position.
  • Position requires the incumbent to lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds.
  • This position meets the criteria for random drug and alcohol testing under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE ER 690-1-1218.
  • Position requires Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) at least 25% of the duty time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position and is not subject to administrative dismissal in emergencies based on inclement weather conditions, or other emergency situations, as appropriate.
