You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant in the Corporate Operations Group, Total Force Strategy & Management Department (TFSMD), Personnel Policies and Programs Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will review and coordinate personnel actions including temporary appointments, transfers, separations and promotions.
You will check personnel actions for appropriate authorization and obtain data to complete accurately.
You will provide technical support in recruitment and placement activities.
You will provide information requested by entering or separating employees involving personnel and related matters.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Entering personnel information into documents, reports and automated systems; 2) Utilizing automated Human Resources systems to process various types of personnel actions, retrieve and analyze information, generate documents, records, and/or reports; 3) Researching rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in relation to personnel programs/benefits to resolve questions and concerns ; and 4) Reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy related to health benefits, leave entitlements, hours of work, etc.
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing office automation systems, such as personnel databases, to enter and retrieve data; 2) Performing electronic filing of documents to maintain records following established procedures; 3) Performing standardized staffing clerical support work such as assisting with claims/benefits, paperwork, memoranda, etc.; and 4) Researching rules and regulations to assist in resolving various personnel issues.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-05:
Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school
OR
A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
