This position is located in the Division of Maintenance, National Capital Parks-East. The incumbent provides first level supervision, planning, and direction for a group of non-supervisory workers engaged in the operations, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and preservation, of heavily visited historic, recreational, and natural park areas.
Duties
The major duties of the Maintenance Worker Supervisor position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Establishes work priorities and policies, coordinates activities and operations, and prepares specific schedules for the year.
Performs employee recruitment, selection, and evaluation.
Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinate employees.
Develops performance standards and evaluates the work performed, giving timely feedback and instructions as warranted, increasing efficiency and improving job performance.
Implements employee and labor relations laws, policies and procedures.
Identifies and corrects job safety and health hazards, initiates corrective measures for violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act Standards, and directs the periodic inspection of all work places.
Manages a union workforce and communicates effectively with union representative through a collective bargaining agreement.
