The position is located in the Financial Management Branch within the Division of Administrative Services at the Crownpoint Service Unit at Crownpoint, New Mexico. The primary purpose of work is to perform technical accounts receivable functions, accounting and technical part of accounting systems, policies, and procedures in such areas as accounts examination, verification, maintenance of accounts, accounting data, and serving as the designated Collections Clerk.

Duties

Understands the accounting principles, fair credit practices and established collection procedures to perform all accounting technician functions in the accounts receivable area. Comprehends accounts receivable policies and procedures to resolve routine to complex transactions; understands accounting for cash and other monies and negotiable instruments as necessary. Develops and applies methods, procedures, records, and forms that are used to ensure the propriety of cash items such as coins, currency, checks, money orders and other documents supporting cash transactions; prepares and maintains financial documents, and makes the deposits into the banking institution. Analysis and reviews all transactions in accounts receivable; prepares worksheets showing the analysis performed; makes daily report; verifies mathematical accuracy; determines necessary transactions, enters data into a computerized system and onto required forms; compares transaction entered to those intended. Reconcile daily reports from Business Office; receives deposit tickets via mailing package from the bank. Reconciles bank reports to deposit tickets; posts and reconciles accounts receivable into the RPMS system; coordinates with the Business Office on billing issues. Process all third-party collections reconcile and balances batches on a daily and monthly basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-07: Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience to at least GS-06 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Understands the accounting principles, fair credit practices and established collection procedures to perform all accounting technician functions in the accounts receivable area. Develops and implement processes, procedures, records, and forms to ensure the propriety of monetary collections or transactions. Analysis and reviews all transactions in accounts receivable; prepares worksheets showing the analysis performed; makes daily report; verifies mathematical accuracy; determines necessary transactions, enters data into a computerized system and onto required forms; compares transaction entered to those intended; corrects invalid or incorrect entries; reconciles deposits to occur on a daily basis and gets signature approval from supervisor; determines causes of problems and takes corrective action for all discrepancies. Reconcile daily reports from Business Office; receives deposit tickets via mailing package from the bank; Separates deposits by major payers Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance companies according to bank reports; reconciles bank reports to deposit tickets; posts and reconciles accounts receivable into the RPMS system; coordinates with the Business Office on billing issues. OR:1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education

You may qualify based on education by completing 1 year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position. Provide copies of Transcripts for review.
